Led by
volunteer instructor, Vicky Edwards, Literacy Volunteers-Winchester
Area offers an Introduction to Computer Class four times per year. This
class is available to those with limited funds that cannot afford to
pay for adult education classes. The curriculum is geared for individuals
that have little or no computer experience.
Students
meet once a week for six weeks. Classroom sessions are two and a half
hours each. Total classroom time is fifteen hours. A certificate of
completion is issued to individuals that attend all six weeks. With
each hour of class attended, students earn free computer usage time
at the Literacy Volunteers office suite.
Classes
are held at the Our Health Complex Computer Lab at 301 North Cameron
Street, Winchester, VA., in the same building as the Literacy office.
Typically, classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 6-8:30 PM.

the class focuses on Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition and includes

This summer,
Vicky Edwards and LV-WA have teamed up to offer two additional computer
classes, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Each class runs for four
weeks. This class is available to those students that have completed
the introduction class and/or to those individuals that already have
some basic computer experience.
Volunteers
are needed to assist the teacher in the classroom
Training requirements: General orientation
