Northwestern Adult Regional Detention Center GED Preparation

I am enjoying the time I spend at the detention center. I feel I’m helping, it’s rewarding ….and the guys are really trying.” This is how one volunteer recently described her work in this program. We are providing classroom aides to the one GED teacher at the Northwestern Adult Regional Detention Center. The center houses over 700 individuals and half of those need to obtain their GED. Volunteers will work one three hour shift each week. There are morning and afternoon classes. The requirements for participation are:
  • Completing the on-line tutor training
  • Attending the follow-up training session at LV-WA office
  • Attending the orientation at the detention center
  • Attending one observation class
  • Satisfactorily completing the security check
  • Receiving the approval of the classroom teacher

Your participation will make a big difference to individuals who are trying to make an improvement in their lives. Let us know today of your interest.
